A common pursuit amongst singers is the the quest for good head and chest voice/tone resonance. Although we have discussed to some extent about head/chest resonance in previous articles, there will still be a lot of confusion on this subject such as balancing tonal brilliance and depth of the resonance.

Blending these two voice qualities or vocal colors is a major source of confusion and frustration for many aspiring singers. However, once you understand how the voice work, blending the vocal colors should become easy and automatic as speaking expressively.

In fact, once you are able to blend the tones, you will begin to sing with more emotion and passion because you will know how to create the tones that will draw out the feelings and the emotions of the songs that you are singing. Some people call it singing with feel.

It is well established that the head resonance, when properly supported, has a brilliant ringing tone quality as compared to the chest resonance singing tone. This bright voice tone is developed in the bones and cavities above and, behind and around the nose known as the mask.

The result from an unsupported head resonance is very different and is characterized by a false falsetto tone. This oddity occurs when a singer suddenly switches into a choir boy tone.

The resonators have a lot to do with what your voice sounds like. This is why you can listen to many singers with high voices and yet each of them will have a differently blend of sound and tonal quality.

Now try this experiment to feel the resonating system of the head. Gently tap your finger on the bone between the upper lip and the nose. Can you hear the gentle thud it made? Now tap the bridge of your nose and then your forehead just below your hairline and again listen to the thuds again.

Did you notice that the thuds were higher in pitch as you ascend from the lip to the forehead? By performing this experiment, you will know that certain bones are predisposed to amplify various pitch levels.

When singers refer to chest resonance, they are actually talking about vocal tone which is characterized by darker vowel qualities or mellowness. However the term is a misnomer. By dictionary definition, an effective resonating chamber is a hollow place surrounded by hard surfaces. However, the chest is too full of organs to be suitable for amplifying the singing tone.

Throat and chest resonance occur where there is plenty of empty space for amplification of the lower vibrations created by the vocal cords in the mouth and throat. Contrary to popular thinking, most so-called “chest resonance” actually comes from the throat. However, there is also a distinct sensation of vibration in the chest when singing, especially in the sternum or breastbone area. This feel of tone gathering in the chest area can be used very effectively to stabilize high notes.

So in order to get good singing tone, then you must practice with the right vocal exercises to blend the head and chest tone.

About the Author:

Canvas photo and painting printing is such a nice innovation that can satisfy not only every customer but professional photographers and artists as well. This kind of printing gives many opportunities to create something different. Striving of gaining general acceptance any art follower can rely upon canvas print technology with full trust and confidence. It is a new way to present an image.

Canvas prints can be prints made from digital, still, turn slides or negatives. What are the reasons of doing that? Why should we prefer canvas to usual photos if our grandparents and parent are so accustomed to habitual photography? Our generation chooses it for the simple reason that the quality of a canvas photo print can be better than the original sample. It became possible due to the editing that is done before the final product is produced. Canvas print technique makes it possible to improve your photo adding brightness, colours and sharpness. Another reason why people are going for these pictures is that canvas prints can be made from different pictures to give good quality products. Any of famous and well known paintings printed on canvas can decorate your home walls giving your place some sort of art significance. This canvas painting print gallery can become a whole cultural heritage of your home.

Three major steps to consider

Canvas prints can be done also on custom canvas, which is called simply a customized canvas. This customizing will help you to meet your specific needs. You can buy a canvas print offered by the manufacturer (that has already been made) or you can make your own specifications for the canvas and give your own digital image to be put on canvas. The biggest advantages of custom canvas are the fact that you will be more satisfied with the product because it has a more personal feel and the fact that the canvas can be made in a way that reflects your monetary abilities.

Cropping

First you can determine the size of your future photo on canvas. Canvas print specialists can crop your photo by various size and methods, and send you back to choose the best one. Unwanted things, according to your requirements, can be removed as well by cropping, or some particular area can be added to your photo if it is needed.

Retouching

With the help of this method the date and time stamp are removed from the digital photo. It is one of the most common tasks to be made here. Usually people choose the best photos to put on canvas but there is still a wish to perfect the picture, for example to retouch some wrinkles, freckles or moles making them more unnoticeable and est., especially women attach great importance to perfection of the appearance. They are usually more hard-to-please customers than men.

Colour balancing

Using colour balancing method makes it possible to brighten or darken the image, change the contrast, make it more striking or on the contrary. By removing the original colour of the photo you can make it monochrome. There are a lot of possibilities to make the picture look innovatively stunning. One can say this can be achieved using only photography, well he will be right in his own way, but a usual photo will never look the same as a good quality canvas photo print. A photo printed on canvas will certainly look much better, more effective.

About the Author:

Levitation is a big part of Criss Angel’s repertoire. He has fascinated crowds all over the globe by floating off the ground, seemingly without any supporting device, special equipment or wires. On his television show Mindfreak he once floated off the ground about two feet and gently landed on a cement ledge to the amazement of spectators on a busy street.

So how is this done? How does Criss Angel levitate himself? It’s actually easier than you think. In a recent video Criss Angel shows some of his friends how this is done.

This form of levitation involves standing in front of an prop, like a metal box, chair, or stair case with your back to the audience. In this demonstration Criss stands approximately one foot from the prop, in this case a metal box.

He places his feet together (his shoes are magnetized). He stands so he is in the center of the spectators. Now while talking to his audience he uses misdirection with his right hand while his left hand opens a panel on his pants that allows his right leg to come out.

This is the gimmick, the right shoe is attached to the pants so when his leg is out of the shoe, the shoe will hang.

The critical point is removing the right leg from the slit in the pants. Criss again misdirects. The importance being he doesn’t want spectators concentrating on his legs. This is the most difficult part of the trick, actually getting the leg out and firmly planted on the box. Engaging the spectators with speech and hand movements allows Criss the split second needed to accomplish this.

Just before he rises from the ground Criss arches his back looking up, extends his arms outwards and takes deep breaths. This wraps the spectators in anticipation and allows Criss the time to balance himself.

He floats up. His arms outstreached, his eyes gazing upwards. His legs remain straight, heels together, floating two feet off the ground. “How does it look?”, Criss asks the three or four friends that have gathered. “Looks good.”, someone answers.

Criss explains that from this point he can float to the top of the box or float back down. If he floats to the top his foot is placed on top of the right shoe. The exposed leg is then slipped back into the pants and shoe.

Criss would then end the act by turning to his spectators, observing their expressions and saying something like, “Do you believe?”

Well do you?

mint tin favors

Learn Card tricks if you want to become a Magician. Card Tricks are an essential part of any Magician’s performance. Some require difficult sleight-of-hand techniques, most just need you to distract your audience while you ‘do the deed’, many can be done in full view. If you learn a few simple techniques then you can make up your own card tricks!

The False Shuffle is one of many and possibly the easiest to do. With it you can appear to fully shuffle the deck whilst actually maintaining the top card in place or keep the bottom card in place or move the top card to the bottom or bottom card to the top. In all of these moves, keep the backs of the cards towards the audience or they might spot the selected card during the shuffle.

Keeping the top card in place; hold the pack in your left hand, face down, tilted at about 45 degrees with the backs toward your right hand. With your right hand remove the top half of the pack. Flip the pack upright with your left thumb so that the backs of the cards rest against your finger tips. Using the same thumb, start to detach small packets of cards from the half pack held by you right hand so that they drop alternately on top and bottom of the deck. The pack is alternately supported by the thumb and the tips of the other fingers as it is rocked to allow cards to drop on either side. Your forefinger should be bent against the top card to prevent it accidentally moving when you are dealing the last package. Continue this until all cards are back in the pack making sure that the last cards go on the top.

Move a card from top to bottom; as above but make sure the last card goes to the bottom.

Keeping the bottom card in place; as above but take the half pack from the bottom of the deck and ensure that the last card goes back on the bottom.

Moving a card from bottom to top; as above but ensure the last card is dealt to the top.

In many tricks you will have a selected card replaced at the centre of the pack. You need to control this card to the top or bottom. One way is to hold a break in the pack by squeezing it as the two halves of the pack are reunited. This pushes your own flesh in the way of the pack coming back together and enables you to separate the two halves again at the required point. To move the card to the top, make the break above the selected card in other words get your fingertip in the way after the card arrives on top of the half deck. Now simply cut the deck at the break and the card arrives at the top. Use the false shuffle to move the card to the bottom if you need to.

These techniques are the basis of many card tricks and if you master them – practise them! – you will soon be able to develop your own magic.

bride and groom gifts

There are many reasons why people want to do magic. Some people want the applause; others want to see the look of wonder on the faces of those in the audience. And then there are those people who merely want to have fun. One of the best ways to astound your friends and family is with mental magic tricks. These tricks are fun to learn and amazing to perform. Every magician even a beginner should have a collection of mental magic tricks ready to impress an audience.

From Your Mind to Their Mind

Mental magic tricks mostly involve staying one step ahead of your audience. With most magic tricks, scientific principles are used. However, mental magic tricks use more of a math foundation, specifically the laws of probability and statistics. When you understand how you can predict your audience’s response to certain questions, you will be able to master many mental magic tricks.

1) Pick a Card

You have heard magicians tell their audience: Pick a card, any card. Here is a unique twist. Have your audience member think of a card. You will be able to tell them the card by reading their mind. While this may sound like an impossibility mental magic tricks are done in a very possible way.

In this trick, the magician relies on the fact that most people will think of the Ace of Spades, the Queen of Hearts, the Six of Clubs or the Nine of Diamonds. Before facing your audience, pull these four cards out of the deck and put them in different pockets.

Be sure to remember which card went in what pocket. Your audience will be truly astounded when you pull their card out of your pocket. Mental magic tricks like this one are based on the probability of people choosing certain cards. With that said, this trick will also work most of the time.

2) Pick a Number

There are many mental magic tricks involving numbers. Try this one. Ask an audience member to pick a number between 50 and 100. The number must be even and have different digits. The usual answer will be 68. Once again, the idea is to be one thought ahead of your audience. Research indicates that 68 is the number most likely to be selected.

3) Pick Another Card

Fan out several cards before an audience member and ask them to select a card. The cards should be face cards with a Four of Hearts in the center. Most people will pick the Four of Hearts because it’s different and in the middle.

All of these mental magic tricks so far use math probabilities to succeed. Keep in mind that while they may work most of the time, they may not work all the time. In that case, be ready to improvise. Magicians understand that their own performance is the key to successful magic. If a trick should fail to proceed as planned, don’t let the audience know. Stay confident and in control at all times.

4) Bending a Coin

Mental magic tricks don ot always use probability. With this trick, the minds of the magician and the audience member appear to work together to get an unusual result.

Ask someone for a coin and then palm it in your hand. Have a bent coin ready in that same hand. Tell the person you will place the coin in their hand and together you will bend it. Slip the bent coin in their hand and close their fist around it. Tell the person to concentrate on the coin and when their hand opens, there is the proof!

bath wedding favors

These

workshops are taught by professional actors,

choreographers, comedians, dancers, composers,

singers, arrangers, musicians, and conductors.

Where else will your group have access to

professionals in these fields – all in one place? To

sweeten the pot, many of these professionals are

famous in their fields, performing in both Hollywood

and New York, among other famous places in the

world.

Instrumental groups can audition to perform on one

of the Disneyland stages. Marching bands can

audition for the famous Disneyland parades. Along

with performing in the happiest place on earth,

which is an experience you will remember and talk

about your entire life, you will also receive the

benefits of world-class workshops, conducted by

world-class professionals. Vocal groups and dancers

audition to perform on one of the Disneyland stages,

and are also offered the world-class workshops

designed for vocalists and vocalist groups or dancers.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for your group.

The performance alone will be unforgettable, but the

information that these young performers will learn in

the workshops is invaluable. Instrumental groups

and marching bands will benefit from the

soundtrack/instrumental workshop, the soundtrack

jazz workshop, the tune in seminar, and the

percussion workshop.

Vocalists are offered the industry show choir

workshop, academy show choir workshop, the

academy vocal workshop, the industry vocal

workshop, and the express yourself workshop.

Dancers can take advantage of the industry dance

workshop, academy dance workshop, and the

express yourself workshop. There is something for

all performers as Disneyland Magic Music Days!

Each member of each group will receive an 8 x 10

glossy picture of their entire group, dressed in

performance attire, in front of the Sleeping Beauty

Castle. Although you won’t need any help

remembering your time at Disneyland Magic Music

Days, you can share this photo with your friends

and loved ones when you return home from the most

unforgettable performance you will ever have!

coffee favors
